Christoph Keller

Christoph Keller (born 1963) is a novelist, essayist, and nonfiction writer. His notable works include I’d Prefer My Country Flat (1996, International Lake Constance Prize), The Ground Beneath Our Feet (2019, Alemannic Literature Prize), and Every Cripple a Superhero (2020), which gained wide attention. His best-known book is the autobiographical novel The Best Dancer (2003).

He has co-authored three novels with Heinrich Kuhn and published microstories in Everything Else Follows Naturally (2015). As an editor, he worked on major collections including We’re On: A June Jordan Reader (2017) and The Essential June Jordan (2021). His recent book is And Then You Ring My Bell (2023).

After over 20 years in New York, Keller now lives in St. Gallen, Switzerland, with poet Jan Heller Levi and writes in both German and English.
